3 Essential Pieces Your Wardrobe Needs for Summer

I love this time of year because the sun sets later, days are filled with sunshine and saltwater, and it feels like life moves just a little bit slower. As a kid I loved summer because I looked forward to sleeping in and not going to school, but now I look forward to beach days and getting to wear my warmer clothing! If you’re like me and are pulling out your summer wardrobe from the depths of your closet, here are 3 essential pieces you need to pull out.

#1 High Waisted Shorts

These have been back in style now for a little while, and I have been loving them! I think they are so fun and chic, and can really complete an entire outfit. I love to wear bodysuits under the shorts to avoid having to tuck and untuck all day long- they also accentuate your torso in all the right ways!

Linked below are some bodysuits and high waisted shorts I have been loving.

I also love to wear cropped tops so that you can actually see that the shorts are high waisted. These are trendy right now and you can find them pretty much anywhere! Here are a few that I like.

A fun way to style high waisted shorts is by adding a cardigan or sweater with it. I love to throw one of these on especially in the evenings when it gets a bit cooler.

Linked below are some of my favorite cardigans and sweaters.

#2 Maxi Dress

I just recently decided to jump into the maxi dress game, and I will never look back. I love how cozy and casual they are, but they also are easy to dress up.  Depending on accessories and shoes, maxi dresses can be worn to the beach, running errands, or on a date. My favorite way to wear them casually is by styling them with sandals and layered necklaces.

My favorite way to dress maxi dresses up is by styling them with platform sandals, dangled earrings, a hat, and a fun clutch. All of a sudden, your little maxi is all ready to go out on the town!

#3 A Straw Hat

I used to never wear hats of any kind because I thought I looked so dorky in them, and now I decided I love them. Who knew, right? My favorite kind of hats to wear during summer time are straw hats. They are perfect for beach days, and can make any bathing suit/cover up combo look that much cuter.

Straw hats are also really great for making outfits look completed and put together. I used it previously to dress up my maxi dress, but I also like to pair it with a collared tee and jeans.

Let me know if you guys enjoyed this post and I can add more styling tips in future posts!
