Positano, Italy

Planning a trip to Positano? Photos, tips, and things to know below!

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you guys some photos from our time in Positano, Italy and provide some useful tips if you’re planning on visiting. First of all, Positano needs to be on everyone’s bucket list. It was the most incredible, dreamy, picturesque, fairy-tale-like place I have ever been to. The buildings are incredibly designed on the hillside (the colors are absolutely stunning), the people are so kind (this goes for all of Italy), and the food is to die for! With that being said, let’s talk about a few things you HAVE to do/know while in Positano:

1) Eat lunch at “Le Sirenuse” hotel (this is where I took the photos in my pink dress, shown above)

2) Walk through the tiny paths down from the main road to the beach. There are lots of shops to meander through, gelato shops, restaurants, etc. However, I would highly recommend leaving your luggage in a car, hotel, or locker because the steps are pretty intense to carry large items down (not to mention, the narrow paths).

3) Take a 5 min boat ride over to “Arienzo Beach Club” and spend an afternoon laying out in the sun, eating a meal at the restaurant there (my husband and I surprisingly had our FAVORITE meals at this spot while in Italy- I had gnocchi and my husband had the bolognese), and enjoying the beautiful scenery. The photos above with the orange chairs, striped umbrellas, and pasta dishes were from this beach club. This is a must!!

*pro tip: reserve your spot online ahead of time at the beach club. Here is the website: https://www.arienzobeachclub.com/

4) Go to Positano during the “off season” because it can be extremely busy with tourists. My husband and I were there in September, which is considered the first month of the off season, and it was still pretty crowded. I would think the BEST time to go here is during the last week of September or the first week of October because the weather will still be nice but the people will be fewer.

5) Watch the sunset over the water and hillside! A good spot to do this is at L’Ancora hotel. My husband and I stayed here for one night and in evening we watched the sunset from our balcony (but the restaurant is another great spot if you’re not staying at the hotel). It was a sunset we will never forget! Another option is to watch the sunset on a boat (but you must book this in advance because the spots fill up! Here is one of the boat companies you can book through: https://www.positanoboats.info/ )

6) Try the Limoncello! This is the drink that originated in Positano, so it is all over the place (you’ll see it in basically all of the shops). At first I didn’t like it because I tried it when it was warm, but the second time I tried it over ice and I loved it. It tastes like a sour lemon head candy, HA.

Let me know in the comments below if these photos and tips were useful in your trip planning! Or, if you’ve been before I’d love to chat about it :)
