My Third Trimester

Third trimester! I made it…somehow! It has been a very challenging and long journey with being pregnant during a pandemic, but it is finally BABY TIME. Adam and I cannot wait to meet our little guy SO soon. We officially finished his nursery, which feels amazing to have completed. I will do a nursery reveal on my YouTube channel soon, once I have a chance to upload our birth story vlog. I really haven’t wanted to do much on social media these days, mostly because I haven’t been feeling up to it and I haven’t had the energy. But, it’s really important to me to document our little guy’s birth story so that one day I can show it to him. So, I will include his nursery reveal in that video and will be sure to add the link to this blog once it’s up.

Aside from getting the nursery completed, we have also been busy getting our hospital bags packed, reading The Birth Partner book that our doula recommended, taking our maternity photos (will attach some of them below), putting together “thank you” baskets for the hospital nurses, going to my weekly doctor check-ups, and trying to spend quality time together before the beautiful chaos happens.

This trimester has been “go time” for Adam and I. I’m not sure why we didn’t kick ourselves into gear sooner, but once we got to the beginning of this trimester we both felt like it was time to crush our to-do list. I’m very happy to report that we are FINALLY in a position where we can say everything is done. We are now just playing the waiting game and are on baby watch. Today, while I write this, I am 39 weeks and 5 days. My due date is in two days!! I cannot believe baby boy is not here already, to be honest. I was very convinced he would come early (for no reason other than I just thought he was), and clearly I was wrong. At my doctor appointment yesterday, she told me that she thinks he will come after his due date because my cervix is only 0.5cm dilated and 50% effaced. We shall see how this all goes down!

As far as third trimester symptoms go, this is what I have been experiencing:

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • Tight calf muscles

  • Pelvic pressure

  • Cramping

  • Braxton Hicks (soo many of these!)

  • Tiredness (honestly way more tired during the 3rd trimester than any of the other two)

  • Lower back discomfort

  • NESTING (not a symptom but had to mention it haha)
